Hello everybody,
Today I want to share with you my experience of lightening my hair using professional bleaching powder by Barex called Superplex: this powder is a fantastic innovative product from Italy offering a terrific built-in protection for hair shaft - imagine adding Olaplex to your regular powder but without all the hassle - the ingredient is fully disclosed to be a “Polyamino Sugar Condensate”, a blend of sugars and proteins made to prevent breakage.
The seller included many free samples of Italian hair products so I’m delighted that I will have a few more products to review in the next few days.
The developer I chose was a 50/50 mix of volume 20 and volume 10: so around vol.15 or 4,5% peroxide content. According to instructions printed on the tub, we are to mix 1:2 ratio of white powder to developer, which I followed.
How Much Product?
For my shoulder length hair I took 2 scoops powder (30 ml scoop x2) and 4 scoops developer. I think longer hair would need double that amount.
About My Hair.
I have naturally dark hair with some grays, and it’s been lightened for 2 years, my first experience with Schwarzkopf Blondme powder was horrific. I wouldn’t wish that powder on my enemy- as it trashes your hair like no other. I had since tried 5 other brands and none were as cruel to hair integrity! And it didn’t matter that I added Olaplex or used low % developer : I still managed to somehow lose 80% of my waist-length hair. This is why it’s so important to go to the Salon for your first time instead of picking a product from 100s of similar products and praying that you win a Hair lottery. Surprisingly, Schwarzkopf had glowing reviews (and yet if you scroll down you will find other bad experiences like mine), it just shows that you can’t believe everything you read.
<< Before Photo: I have 1,5 cm outgrowth! Its been around a month and a half since my last process.
Application:
Upon mixing, I got a wonderful sourcream-like consistency, very light and easy to apply. This in a stark contrast with Joico paste, which applied almost like a clay with Heracles’ strength. Important: do not overlap to already bleached hair, only apply on roots or you risk damage!
What will you need for the procedure:
Bleach, developer, bowl and brush (non metal), hair clips, mirror, non-latex gloves(nitrile), old shirt, clarifying shampoo, conditioner, mask, mirror, and a clock for timing yourself. (Or just use Alexa/Google Assistant).
<<Upon Application: I set a timer for 1,5 hrs, but if you have a lighter colored hair you might need just 10 vol developer and set a timer for 30 min - 1 hr. As you can see on the photo, you should start lifting to a light yellow color.
<<Rinse Process: Before
I rinse, I always mix a “sour mix” as to protect my already dyed hair from the
bleach during a rinse-off. This little trick saves me a lot of grief and unnecessary hair
loss. This mix consists of 1/4 lemon juice mixed with any hair
conditioner or mask: just apply on your lengths only. If you don’t have lemon
juice, you can substitute with apple cider vinegar. Now, I rinse off bleach
twice, using a clarifying shampoo first : currently I have Healing Pure by
Lanza. Now, you can use any of your our favorite non-SLS shampoo afterwards, so
for me it’s CHI, and you’re done.
<<Toning. Upon rinse off we now need to seal cuticle and apply a toning mask. I
make a toning mask by mixing Ultra Violet dye by Manic Panic (a very tiny
amount, 1/4 of a teaspoon) and my favorite hair mask (currently it’s Kaaral
Hydra). After 20 minutes, you can rinse off and condition your hair.
This is the final result. As you can see the hair is ridiculously shiny and soft. Note incredible shine in the root area and incredibly touchable, soft texture! I’m very impressed. A Holy Grail may have been found :))

- Never put on a cap or foil on bleach, otherwise you will burn your hair and scalp, or get an allergic reaction!
- Apply liberally and generously, or you risk uneven result
- Don't let the product dry out, keep applicating throughout process. Stay away from wind/fans.
- Don't overtone, if using purple shampoos or dyes, go sparingly, the mixture of your toning mask should be pastel. Its easier to correct under-toned hair than over-toned.
This product - SUPERPLEX by BAREX - gets 5 stars from me. I highly recommend it to those who want to lighten their hair safely!.
