Its now been around 1 month since my last update. I have bleached my hair again and hardly lost any volume at all with the weekly treatment regiment that I wrote in my earlier posts: keratin treatments have been a life saver. (As I tend to lose hair on week 3 post-bleaching, because it’s highly porous, damaged and thin).
Also I have finally found an ideal hair oil for me: after so many failures, I'm finally happy with this champion in hair taming: welcome KERASTASE ULTIME beautifying oil. Although pricey, it had amazing beautifying effect on my hair: it makes it "disciplined", so that it lies as one sheet of shiny, split-end-free, frizz-free, long hair with no greasiness or stickiness at all!!! Call me crazy but my hair looks longer with it, due to a strange straightening effect from it. Adding a little bit of shine (very subtle, see picture), and it also adds volume. Hair becomes stronger, hardly any hair fall. Hair stays clean longer, I went the whole 8 days with it (with me I had the dirty greasy feeling every 3 days).
Currently, I have several keratin products: Keratin-P mask, Instense Care keratin mask by Lolane, and I even ordered from Amazon 2 amazing "ingredient-type" products - Hydrolyzed Protein and Hydrolyzed Keratin, which can be added to ANY of your favorite hair products.
For instance, right now my favorite hair mask is legendary "Hydra" by Kaaral, which infuses my hair with out-of-this-world amount of moisture using the power of royal jelly.) What keratin does is, like invisible soldier, it keeps hair fall-out at bay and minimizes any sort of monthly breakage. As a result, your hair is more voluminous and healthy looking - a win-win in my book!!!.
I've been scouring the Internet far and wide in search for products which would help me revive my severely (level 3) damaged hair and reduce split ends/minimize any possible breakage.
....Of course I had to start at the source - how do I end up damaging my hair in the first place?.. Since the damage comes from the lightening process itself, I had to take a hard look at my bleach and developer.
As for bleach, for the last 2 processes I have been using "EXTRA ORDINARY BLEACH" from Italy from a company Barex called Superplex. (Here's a link on how I apply it to my hair).
Since I was still using 15% Joico developer, I decided to venture out and see what's out there in terms of innovative products in developers. I found something called "Trionics" developer which is what I ordered yesterday in 20 vol strength to try out. They claim to have patented technology by using the power of sea kelp - derived enzymes!!!. The brand Trionics promises more gentle lift with less breakage during processing which is EXACTLY what I'm seeking :))). I can't wait to try it out!!!
This month had been very good for me in terms of discoveries :). Here are the two other products I ordered for my upcoming March 17 hair bleach processing:
-Joico Damage Defy Pro series 1 and 2. This is, in my understanding, Joico's version of Olaplex so I had to try it! It's on the way - should arrive next week from Amazon. Btw... I LOVE Olaplex.
I even made my own DYI leave-in conditioner with it: in a spray bottle I mixed a little bit of Olaplex #1 and very conditioning violet-colored Roux Fanciful leave-in, in "white minx". You might have seen them in your local Sally's: Roux is the bomb!!!
I absolutely love how conditioning it is to the hair, making it a perfect leave-in that doesn't dry sticky or oily. I am surprised there are no leave-in with Olaplex yet, and some websites even say that spraying it in the air is Cancinogenic. For that reason I apply it in into the palm of my hand first and then onto the hair.
-Tibolli Hydration trio kit: Shampoo, Conditioner and Oil. (only $20 for the whole kit on Amazon, its a steal IMO). This product is totally Sulfate and Paraben free and nourishes hair with keratin/protein patented by the name of Juvexin! I had a chance to use it in a small trial size, and it was pretty amazing - the amount of slip/detangling property was simply superb!.
In about a week I will be doing a lightening process on my roots (I would say a month and a half has passed since my last process). I don't know whether or not these new products will arrive by the 17th, but if not, I plan on bleaching with my regular products, because so far I've been quite happy with the results.
Wishing you all healthy and beautiful hair!!!
